Radon map: what we know about Saskatoon

People often ask whether their neighbourhood is a "radon area." The honest answer is that no neighbourhood is radon-free, and no neighbourhood guarantees a low result. Two houses next to each other can have very different levels depending on their foundation, soil and how airtight they are.

What large studies show:

• Health Canada's cross-Canada radon survey found Saskatchewan among the provinces with the highest share of homes above the guideline.
• Health Canada estimates about 16% of homes in the Saskatoon region are above 200 Bq/m³.
• Research from the Evict Radon national study has found higher levels across Saskatchewan, with especially high results in Regina.
